There's a chance.A game by Owen & Mike Wokasch

Small rolls. Big chances.

A cooperative dungeon for 1–3 adventurers. Defeat the boss together. If anyone dies, everyone loses.

  1. Draw. Each round adds 3 cards to your hand, or 4 when playing solo. Unused cards stay in your hand. Empty draw piles reshuffle the discard pile.
  2. Plan together. Choose an encounter, one ability, and cards from your hand. Only icons of that ability count. One teammate may add one support card. Resolve the centered obstacle first. Upcoming obstacles stay behind doors until their turn.
  3. Take your chance. Select cards and a skill, then press Roll to play the cards and resolve the active obstacle. Roll at or below 1 + your matching icons. Advantage uses d6, neutral d8, disadvantage d10. The host may select the d4/d6/d8 variant before starting.
  4. Grow your deck. Success adds the encounter’s reward to your discard pile. Played cards are discarded. Failure applies the encounter’s penalty.
  5. Face the boss. After the dungeon, attack in player order. Each success deals one damage. Reach the boss’s health to win.

Damage & recovery

Damage moves cards from your draw pile to your damage pile. More than 8 damage makes you unconscious. Between rounds a teammate can sacrifice two draw/discard cards to heal one damage. Healing returns damaged cards to your discard pile.

Flee & powers

The team has one shared Flee card per player. Each escapes one non-boss encounter. Select a card and choose Use power for an active ability. Passive effects apply when committed. Dodge automatically blocks incoming damage when uncommitted in your hand.

Online rule decisions

The sources contain draft differences. This edition uses spreadsheet card values, calls the Rogue’s ability Sneaky, and treats empty draw piles as reshuffle opportunities. Forced discards take the oldest cards in hand. Revival happens between rounds. Mimics, repeated doors and extra encounters resolve without another draw. If you cannot commit cards, you may accept an encounter’s failure penalty without rolling. Curse acquisition is not specified, so curse cards are not shuffled into the dungeon. Their source text is preserved in the card library.
